What happened?
Boston United have completed the signing of Boston United defender Jacob Scott on a short-term loan deal. The Puritans recently had Scott on trial and he impressed enough to earn a brief spell with Banbury for the start of the 2026/27 season.

Scott will continue to prepare for the new campaign alongside his new Puritans teammates, gearing up for the return of the Southern League Premier Central. The Northampton Town academy graduate is seen as a top prospect for National League side Boston, who are keen to further his progression in the lower divisions.

Scott has previously enjoyed loan spells with AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Redditch United and Alfreton Town, gaining valuable experience in the non-league pyramid. Banbury boss Kelvin Langmead was keen to aid Scott’s development, especially as the youngster can have a strong impact in the upcoming weeks. Predominantly a centre-half but comfortable playing anywhere across the back line, the 20-year-old is said to bring “composure, athleticism and defensive quality”. Not just that, but those keeping a close eye on trialists in pre-season will have noticed Scott scored in a 2-1 win over Rushden & Diamonds. He also has a mega long throw.
Player Focus
Wayne Goss, a licensed coach who briefly oversaw Scott during his youth career, believes Banbury have a great player on their hands. “Great signing and top lad,” Goss commented on Banbury’s announcement post on X (formerly Twitter). “Jacob played for my Middleton Cheney U13s before moving to Northampton Town Academy. “I was lucky enough to coach him for a year at Northampton also, and chuffed to see his progression since those early days.”
