However, Boston responded quickly with Jordy Hiwula equalizing just a minute later. The hosts' front line nearly capitalized on a mistake in possession but could only pull their effort wide of the goal.
Despite the early setback, West Ham U21s demonstrated great character and resilience to maintain their lead until Emeka Adiele's late winner with five minutes remaining after an incredible solo run from midfield. The goal came off a fast break engineered by Adiele, who burst through midfield before turning home the rebound for his second goal of the game.

Lead coach Greg Lincoln praised his group’s performance and progress as they continue to bridge the gap towards senior football. 'I’m so proud of the group,' he said. 'There’s been a lot of good work done at West Ham over a long period of time to get the boys to this point.'
Lincoln highlighted the importance of decision-making, recognizing moments and stages of the game, understanding where spaces are, and exploiting them effectively. He also commended the team's resilience: 'We stuck together, we were resilient, and we showed real character and culture as a group. We rode that spell and ultimately came out on top.'
The U21s will now face Boreham Wood, Truro City or Tamworth in the semi-finals, with ties scheduled for 17 or 18 February.
