Ollie Bostock is aiming to create more FA Cup memories as Boston United build towards a Lincolnshire derby.

Bostock's early strike, assisted by Connor McBride, gave Boston a lead they could not hold onto at the Jakemans Community Stadium. Southend equalised through Paul Omochere after 16 minutes before Sam Kamara's 90th-minute winner sealed a frustrating result. It was a second consecutive loss for the side, who sit 21st in the National League with 12 points from 13 games.

Building on positives

The young forward said his goal was the product of specific preparation. "It was a good goal. It's always good to score and especially like that," Bostock said. He revealed he had taken a bag of balls to practice cutting inside and finishing into the far corner the day before the match, which gave him the confidence to execute in the game.

Despite the defeat, Bostock pointed to positives in the performance, especially after the 6-0 loss to Yeovil Town the previous weekend. He said the manager had labelled that heavy defeat unacceptable, but felt the team defended better and were more organised against Southend.

FA Cup experience

Bostock brings valuable cup experience to the squad ahead of their Fourth Qualifying Round tie against Scunthorpe United. "I have played in the FA Cup and I scored the winning penalty against Swansea to take West Brom through last year," he said, referencing his time on loan at the Hawthorns. He has also played at Carrow Road in the competition.

His immediate focus is on contributing more goals and helping Boston United climb the standings. Bostock, who recently returned from international duty with Wales Under-21s, said his end goal is simply to keep playing and scoring.
