Boston United face Southampton Under-21s in the National League Cup group stage this Tuesday evening at the Jakemans Community Stadium. The Pilgrims are looking for a much-needed boost after a difficult run of form in the league.

They come into the cup tie having lost four of their last five National League matches. A 6-0 defeat away to Yeovil Town on October 3rd was followed by a 2-1 home loss to Southend United last Saturday. Bostock scored an early opener in that game, but Southend struck back quickly and netted a winner in the 90th minute. That result leaves Boston 21st in the National League table with 12 points from 13 games.

The same starting eleven from the Southend match is likely to feature again. That lineup included Chadwick in goal, with a back four of Teale, Rooney, Canavan and Shipley. The midfield trio of Bostock, Sutton and Pozo supported forwards Gent, Cursons and McBride.

Southampton's development squad lost 4-1 to Woking in their last outing over a month ago. This cup competition offers Boston a chance to reset before returning to league action. Their next National League fixture is a trip to 17th-placed Eastleigh on October 24th.
